Half Term Update September 1st 2021 – October 31st 2021
We have had a wonderful start to the new academic year and the children have all settled wonderfully across the nursery. We are excited to share with you some of the activities we have been doing in all our rooms. If you would like to see weekly updates of what we get up to at The Cottage Nursery then head on over to our nursery Facebook page, by clicking HERE.
Cub’s activities:
The Cub’s children have really enjoyed finding different objects in the shredded paper, playing (and eating) with the cereal in their farm animal tuff tray. Sand is always a firm favourite in the Cub’s room they like to feel it with their hands and make different marks using the available resources. They have also been working on developing their fine and gross motor skills by posting different sized objects into different tubs and boxes.
Tiger’s activities:
This half term in Tigers they have all enjoyed getting messy with different activities especially with the sea animals and shaving foam! They have also been using different types of blocks to build different structures and enclosures, but their favourite thing is knocking them back down! Art is always a popular activity and they have been exploring the different marks they can make with natural objects. Finally for Halloween they have been exploring pumpkins by scooping the seeds out , and using paint to decorate them.
Panther’s activities:
It has been a very exciting half term in Panthers at the beginning of the term the children really enjoyed exploring the water in the free flow garden, they used the large syringes to get water from the tray and then pushed it out seeing how far it could go! They have also been developing their fine motor skills by using forks, knives and playdough cutters to cut up the playdough as we are encouraging children to cut their own food at mealtimes. The Panthers have enjoyed exploring natural objects by using them to paint and helping to get them from the ice using warm water and body heat.
Lion’s activities:
The Lions have also had a great start to the half term. they have been using their imagination with the fairy world in the sandpit, and dinosaurs in the tuff tray where they could also use the available resources to make different marks. They went on a lovely autumnal walk to collect natural objects to go in a tuff tray, whilst on their walk they also talked about road safety. A big hit was using blackberries they had found growing in the garden to make a natural paint and exploring what made the best paint by adding water and flour.
