The Lions’ Room

blue

This room is for the oldest children at the nursery who are three years old. Like the Panthers’ room it is located in the new part of our building. Both these rooms benefit from having toilets located in each room so the children are encouraged to use the toilets independently.

It also has a lovely enclosed garden area which the children can use during the free-flow part of each session. There is an art corner as well as a ‘messy’ area for sand and water play although we often substitute rice, flour, shredded paper, gloop to name a few alternatives! Lots of imaginative play is encouraged with the home corner and the dressing up box.

During their time in the Lions’ room, practitioners will support all children in their journey to school readiness by encouraging children to be independent and curious learners. Practitioners will support children to develop their confidence and self belief, develop a wide range of vocabulary to use when sharing their ideas and expressing their personality with adults and peers and develop key knowledge in mathematics, literacy and understanding of the world.

Please find more information about our curriculum in The Lions’ Room, here: Lions’ Curriculum

Each child has a keyperson who will become their ‘special’ person at nursery, we operate a ‘Buddy’ system just in case your keyperson isn’t in one day.  We work to the EYFS and a ‘Learning Journey’  is produced for each child which charts their development, as part of our ‘Parents’ in Partnership’  we encourage contributions throughout the year by completing ‘At Home I Can’ slips,  parents can look at the Learning Journey at any time, if you want to take it away and comment then you are most welcome but we will ask you to sign it out so that we can keep track of it as it really is quite important, it is then yours to take away with you when it comes to the time for your child to leave the nursery.
